A pair of original 18th Century Oak high back side chairs. The scroll carved cresting rails and front stretchers date from c1710. The solid shaped splats with boxwood stringing and solid panel seats further confirm the period.
The slight variation in the carving detail confirms these were made by two cabinet makers which adds to the character. As restorers we are leaving the slight blemishes/ware marks which are part of the originality. The further attraction or these two chairs is the lack of repairs and molesting.
The patina is correct in being lighter in colour in the “busy” areas. A unique opportunity to acquire a pair of very early English chairs.
